International Psoriasis Council convenes collaborative efforts toward completing genetic map of psoriasis
Joint scientific, laboratory and patient-related studies to complete the full genetic basis of the common chronic skin disease called Psoriasis will bring significant benefits to future treatment strategies, say researchers.
In support of World Psoriasis Day on October 29 and this year’s theme of “Let’s talk about psoriasis – and take action!” the International Psoriasis Council (IPC) today announced a collaborative effort among world-leading geneticists and dermatologists to advance the understanding of the genetic basis of psoriasis.

International Psoriasis Council urges FDA to implement
specific non-clinical and clinical standards to support
approval of biosimilar agents via an abbreviated
regulatory pathway
To coincide with an FDA hearing on
abbreviated approval pathways for biological products, i.e., the Biologics Price Competition and Innovation (BPCI) Act of 2009, the International Psoriasis
Council (IPC), is recommending specific clinical and nonclinical standards to
support the quality of such “biosimilar” agents. The goal of which is to ensure
that suitable safeguards are in place to protect patients as well as the integrity of
the healthcare delivery system.

IPC investigating relationship between BMI and severity
of psoriasis in childhood
As people around the world get
ready to participate in events for World Psoriasis Day on October 29, the
International Psoriasis Council (IPC) is nearing completion with enrollment in a
multi-center study on the relationship between obesity and psoriasis in children.
The theme of this year’s World Psoriasis Day is childhood psoriasis.
